National Council Meeting

Published Mon 13 Feb 2023

Karate Australia held its inaugural National Council Meeting on Friday 10 February to discuss the future of karate in Australia. Participating in this important meeting were the Karate Australia board members and CEO, Presidents/representatives from each state karate association and the chairs of KA committees/programs.

The Australian Sports Commission facilitated the full-day workshop, with the goal of developing the Karate Australia Strategic Plan with the input of each stakeholder group's representative. Throughout the workshop, a consistent theme emerged: each stakeholder group is working towards the same common goal of ensuring that there is strong alignment and congruence between Karate Australia and each of the state karate associations. All leaders have made a commitment to the success of Karate in Australia and Karate in each state.

Given these findings, the Australian Sports Commission will now begin drafting a strategic plan together with a working group of the National Council. Updates on the Strategic Plan will be presented to members at the 2023 AGM.
